We Are Hiring: Senior Print and UI Designer
The Republic is looking for a highly motivated and versatile senior print and UI designer to be a pivotal force in maintaining the high aesthetic standards of our print publications while significantly advancing the usability and visual appeal of our digital interfaces. This role requires a specialist who is equally comfortable designing for press production as they are for complex screen interactions. This role is full-time and hybrid (three days in office), offering a rare opportunity to shape both physical and digital touchpoints for a respected media platform.

THE ROLE
This position is designed to maximize the quality and consistency of our visual communication across all platforms.
⎈ Print Quality Enhancement: Act as the guardian and innovator for the design, typography, and layout of our flagship print products, ensuring flawless execution from conceptualization to final press check.
⎈ Digital Interface Excellence: Drive the design, testing, and implementation of highly intuitive and visually polished User Interfaces (UI) for our websites, applications, and internal tools.
⎈ Brand Cohesion: Develop and enforce standards that guarantee a seamless, recognizable brand experience across physical and digital media.
⎈ Refinement: Consistently improve the visual impact of all our products while ensuring brand consistency and evolution.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Print Design & Production Expertise
⎈ Design Execution: Co-lead the design and final production of critical print materials, including magazine, merchandise and marketing collateral.
⎈ Pre-Press Mastery: Own the print preparation process, including expert file setup, colour management (CMYK), trapping, binding specifications, and collaboration with vendors to achieve premium results.
⎈ Layout and Typography: Apply advanced knowledge of grid systems, hierarchy, and typography to enhance readability and visual interest in high-volume text layouts.
User Interface (UI) Design
⎈ Interface Design: Conceptualize, design, and iterate on highly functional and aesthetically pleasing user interfaces for web and mobile platforms using industry-leading tools.
⎈ Design System Development: Contribute significantly to the creation and maintenance of a comprehensive UI toolkit, including components, style guides, and documentation to ensure design scalability and developer efficiency.
⎈ Visual Hierarchy: Translate user flows and wireframes into stunning visual designs that guide the user effectively and adhere to current best practices for interaction and accessibility.
REQUIREMENTS
The following skills and qualifications are essential for success in this dual-focused role:
⎈ 5-7+ years of professional design experience with a proven portfolio demonstrating strong capabilities in both Print and UI Design.
⎈ Print Tools: Expert proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator for production-ready print work.
⎈ UI Tools: Advanced proficiency in leading tools like Figma, Sketch, or Adobe XD for UI design, prototyping, and collaboration.
⎈ Print Technical Mastery: Deep understanding of print production processes, high-resolution imagery, colour management (CMYK), trapping, and pre-press standards.
⎈ Digital Technical Mastery: Strong command of component-based UI design patterns, visual hierarchy, layout systems, and platform-specific interface standards (web/mobile).
⎈ Design Principles: Mastery of typographic principles, grid systems, and accessibility standards (WCAG).
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
⎈ Competitive salary: ₦903,375.74 gross monthly (₦700,000 net after statutory deductions).
⎈ Hybrid work schedule (three office days weekly).
⎈ Pension plan and healthcare coverage.
⎈ Company laptop and monthly internet allowance (up to ₦20,000).
⎈ Lunch and transportation coverage on office days.
⎈ 15 days annual leave plus two-week year-end office closure (Dec–Jan).
