We have rebuilt your Republic experience. Author pages, notifications, saved reading, and audio. The site now works more like a publication that knows you.
Author profiles have a new layout: with biography, topic tags, and a full archive of their work. You can now follow them. A ‘follow’ button also sits on topic and region pages. When someone or a topic/region you follow is published, the notification bell alerts you. All of it in one place, manageable in account settings or from the notification panel at the top right of your page.
Reading on The Republic can now be saved. Adding a bookmark to any story card adds it to your ‘saved stories’. From there, you can build named collections and return to them anytime.
For selected stories, there is now an option to listen for subscribers. An in-page audio player sits alongside the text. Start with some of our most popular stories: The Palestinian Freedom Fighter Who Was Also Nigerian, How Nigerian Universities Became Centres of Islamic Radicalism and The Lesser-Told Story of Nigerians in Ireland.
