Associate professor and author of An Orchestra of Minorities and The Fishermen, Chigozie Obioma, wonders what would happen if the African diaspora fully experienced the restorative power of history: ‘I’m persuaded that at the heart of our problems in Africa—and among the Black diaspora—is that we have not come to understand fully that we had successful systems before colonization, and thus embody an unconscious sense of inferiority that must be destroyed.’
