We are currently accepting submissions for our February/March 2019 issue, in which authors will critically discuss race and identity in the modern world. Submissions with a focus on Africa are now welcome on any of the following topics:

⎈ Blackness and the American cultural hegemony;

⎈ Race, racism and the meaning of “whiteness”;

⎈ Technology and racial biases;

⎈ Sexuality in the 21st century;

⎈ Digital culture and new politics of identity;

⎈ Photography, New Media and the “African Gaze”;

⎈ Gender politics (e.g. Masculinity as a policymaking issue);

⎈ Race beyond Black and White (e.g. Race and Sino-African relations); and

⎈ Feminism, intersectionality and the power of social media

We are looking for analytical and engaging essays, lectures, speeches, reading lists and book reviews that, without sacrificing academic rigour, can serve as authoritative/definitive subject-matter guides to both scholars and professionals that may have limited knowledge on social issues.

We expect submissions in the range of 1,500 to 5,000 words and will be accepting first drafts until Sunday 20 January 2019.

Authors of accepted submissions to this issue will be paid at a competitive rate, and will receive a copy of the magazine issue in print.
